Venison Lasagna Arabia

For a “wildly” different taste in Lasagna try this unique recipe.  I love the cozy warm flavor Arabic spices like Kabsa  bring—a melding of clove, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, saffron and black pepper—yum!  You will find Kabsa spice in most Mediterranean food stores.   Making this dish is so easy.  You don’t have to cook the noodles—you use them straight out of the box!  Start to finish, I have this prepared and in the oven in less than 30 minutes.  Then kick back for an hour while it becomes a flavorful dinner you’ll surely add to your favorites list—especially on a ‘winter storm warning’ kind of day!


  • 1lb venison burger (or hamburger if you haven’t harvested your deer yet)
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped green pepper
  • 2 cans Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 2 ½ C water
  • 3T Kabsa Spice
  • 1T garlic powder
  • 1T Italian seasonings
  • ½ t salt
  • 1 package uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb sack of shredded mozzarella
  • ½ C fresh chopped parsely (optional—I use it for color)


  1. Brown venison burger green pepper and onion in a large skillet
  2. Add next 5 ingredients, mix well and simmer until heated though
  3. Arrange a layer of raw noodles in the bottom of a rectangle baking pan
  4. Top with 1/3 of the sauce mixture
  5. Top with 1/3 of the mozzarella
  6. Arrange another layer of raw noodles
  7. Top with 1/3 of the sauce mixture
  8. Top with 1/3 of the mozzarella
  9. Create one more layer of each
  10. Bake, covered, for 1 hour at 350
  11. Remove from heat and uncover
  12. Sprinkle parsley on top
  13. Let stand 15-30 minutes
  14. Slice into sections and serve

One pan makes enough for at least 8 people
